Sir Henry Rider Haggard was an English writer of adventure novels set mostly in Africa, and a founder of the Lost World literary genre. The Virgin of the Sun is a novel by Haggard set in South America. It is a tale about marvelous Incas of Peru. The legend says that long before the Spanish Conquerors entered on their mission of robbery and ruin, there, in that undiscovered land lived and died a White God risen from the sea.
